A friend of mine on the lacrosse team was throwing a party and requested that we bring side dishes to the party. I didn’t feel like making a vegetable or starch and decided that donuts would qualify as a side dish. I have these mini donut molds for baking cake donuts, and we always have tons of sprinkles around. The icing on these donuts came about by trial and error. I first thought that a chocolate ganache type icing would taste the best, but they didn’t go well with the cake. Turns out a simple glaze with cocoa powder gives you a chocolatey flavor that you expect on a donut. Sometimes simple is best! All of these homemade donuts got eaten at the party (and upstaged the store-bought donuts there). These are lighter and tiny, so they were much easier to eat (and less of a commitment)…
